Professor Nguyen is internationally recognized for her teaching and scholarship in the areas of intellectual property, secured transactions, bankruptcy, licensing, and taxation in her teaching and scholarship. She has co-authored several treatises and casebooks and around 30 law review articles in the areas of intellectual property, secured financing, bankruptcy, and taxation.
“It is an honor and privilege to be the Gerald L. Bepko Chair in Law and Director of the Center for Intellectual Property and Innovation at the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law,” Professor Nguyen said. “I look forward to working with my colleagues, students, alumni and friends in building a vibrant Center for all and a special home for training future leaders around the world in IP and related fields.”
The Bepko Chair is an endowed chair, and was made possible in part by Robert H. McKinney‘s gift to the law school.

Professor Nguyen frequently provides technical expertise and support to the Vietnam Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Science and Technology. She regularly speaks at academic symposia, conferences, seminars and workshops on topics related to her legal scholarship and higher education in the United States, China, Vietnam, Thailand, Hong Kong and Vienna. She is a consultant for the World Bank/International Finance Corp. on Secured Transactions in China, Vietnam and the Mekong Region. She currently serves on the Scientific Council, University Economics & Law, Vietnam National University (“VNU”), shaping the strategic vision of the university. In 2009, Professor Nguyen was a Senior Fulbright Scholar at VNU School of Law in Hanoi; she taught and developed an IP curriculum and trained law lecturers. She then served as a Fulbright Scholars Peer Reviewer from 2010 to 2013.

Prior to entering academia, Professor Nguyen practiced law at Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson, and Pryor Cashman Sherman & Flynn, both firms in New York City. She is registered to practice with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
